The dropzone is in great shape

06. August 2017

Many teams are already on site in Saarlouis and use the perfect weather conditions for warmup jumps.

The dropzone in Saarlouis is very well prepared. In addition to the team tents many food and beverage stands are built up so the delegations find everything they need.

The hosting club FSV Saar worked hard to top the level they delivered in 2011 when the worldcup took place here for the first time. Many helping hands were needed to convert the top modern and well established dropzone into a perfect competition area. Chief organizer Helmut Bastuck and his staff today face the biggest challenge: Competitors of all disciplines want to take the opportunity to do as many training jumps as they can get, the judges want to get their systems running, the visitors want entertainment and the officials are searching for the still existing gaps one and a half days prior to the start of the competition.

The two local Supervans are supported by a third one from Breitscheid (180 km in the north east from here). They are going up and down since 9 o'clock, so by noon they already managed 30 loads. Though, the queue at manifest is long after low clouds and strong winds allowed only a few hours of flying yesterday - the first load took off at 5 p.m.

So the general rehearsal is running and it all looks great!
